Apprenticeship

This programme combines college hours and site training over five years, leading to an SVQ/NVQ Level 3 qualification and the title Heating and Ventilation Engineer.

Supporting Your Development

The work of a Heating and Ventilation Engineer is varied and can include the following:

  • Installing boilers, tanks, pipework, pumps and controls according to plans
  • Using bending machines to shape large pipes
  • Using flame cutting equipment to cut pipes to size
  • Joining pipes by soldering or oxy-acetylene and metal arc-welding
  • Testing that the system is operating properly
  • Checking equipment for leaks, pinpointing and repairing faults
