FACILITIES MANAGEMENT

What's a joiner doing fixing your electrics?

Most facilities management contracts feature
a penalty clause.

If an emergency crops up and a tradesman doesn’t arrive within a certain time period, then the facilities management company pays through the nose
for it.

Good in theory, but not always in practice.

When, say, an electrical fault develops, many FM companies send the first person available to have a look. Regardless of whether it’s a joiner, plumber, or telephone engineer.

They do it to stop the clock and avoid the penalty, buying time until the right man for the job can take
a look.

Arthur McKay guarantees that the only person ever looking at your electrics is a qualified electrician. That the only person fixing your plumbing is a qualified plumber. And so forth.
