Congratulations to Patrick Henderson Stage 3 Electrical Apprentice…for reaching the Grand Final of the NICEIC and ELECSA Apprentice of the Year compeititon 2019 (for the second consecutive year).
Reaching the final of this prestigious competition is an achievement in itself, being down to the final eight entrants out of over 1,000 apprentices, from across the United Kingdom, that registered their interest in the competition.
The path to the final is a challenging process and, with the standards getting higher each year, those who succeed in reaching the Grand Final stage have all worked extremely hard to get there:
- Stage 1 – involves sitting an online exam and only those attaining results in the top 20% progress to the next stage
- Stage 2 – is a more challenging 1 ½ hour exam held at several locations across the UK, from which only the top 8 performing students progress to the Grand Final
Mike Stark is the Operations Director who runs Arthur McKay’s apprentice mentoring scheme. He commented:
“Patrick has done himself proud in reaching the final eight in this year’s Apprentice of the Year competition. He has already had many great results from his apprenticeship journey and has a bright future ahead with the company. He is already a winner in our eyes, but I’m sure being a finalist two years in a row is the icing on the cake for him. Hopefully, the experience he gained from last year’s competition will serve him well, to steady the nerves on the big day.”
The final will take place on Tuesday 4th June 2019 in Birmingham, at the headquarters of corporate sponsor, Scolmore Group, where the eight finalists will complete a series of practical challenges followed by a short technical interview with industry experts from NICEIC and ELECSA.
Good luck Patrick, from all at Arthur McKay.
