Service & Maintenance Apprenticeship

This four year training process involves a combination of college hours and on-site training, leading to an SVQ/NVQ Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship in Service, Maintenance and Commissioning of Building Services.

Supporting Your Development

A Service and Maintenance Apprenticeship is a Modern Apprenticeship where apprentices receive training in all aspects of Building Services Engineering systems, including service, maintenance and commissioning of:

  • Forced draught, natural draught and pressure jet gas and oil fired appliances
  • Direct and indirect air heaters, radiant tube heaters and plaque heaters
  • Air-conditioning and ventilation systems
  • Refrigerated systems
  • LTHW, MTHW, HTHW and steam heating systems
  • Hot and cold water installations, including the Control of Legionellosis
  • Renewable energy systems
  • Diagnose and rectify faults on building services engineering electrical control systems and components
  • Inspect, test and purge gas installations
  • Undertake minor pipework and electrical installation works
  • Apply health & safety and environmental legislation and working practices in relation to Building Services Engineering

Entry Requirements and Applications

It is desirable for applicants to have achieved a National 5 or GSCE in Maths, English, Physics and a technical subject as a minimum.

Applications for 2020 apprenticeships are open from 6th January – 30th April 2020.
