Glasgow Airport

By 15th June 2017Case Studies, Transport

As a framework contractor for Glasgow Airport, Arthur McKay has carried out a number of projects at this international airport; both airside and landside. This busy airport has a footfall of around 10 million passengers per annum. Arthur McKay’s framework delivery has helped us gain invaluable insight and experience working to strict airport protocols.

AIRPORT PROTOCOLS

Here at Arthur McKay, we understand the airport environment and procedures and our engineers carry the relevant security clearances to permit them to work airside. Our expertise and technical knowledge to deliver without impacting on the airport’s day-to-day operations is highly regarded by industry professionals and clients alike.

Arthur McKay’s project teams also have central support covering specialist areas, pooling resources from our vastly experienced senior management, commercial teams and our Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental team.

CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE ENVIRONMENTS

Arthur McKay has built one of the most experienced teams in the UK to successfully deliver projects in live, critical infrastructure environments. Carrying out any server works in a live environment is always a challenge, but when the environment is critical to airport operations, you need to be able to rely on the professionalism and competence of the contractor!

RECENT PROJECTS

These encompass small works projects, large scale M&E refurbishments and a challenging high-tech project to upgrade the server capacity for their main node IT services. As an appointed M&E framework contractor, contracts can be awarded either via a main contractor, or directly by the airport, enabling Arthur McKay to adopt the role of Principal Contractor.

With Arthur McKay as Principal Contractor:

  • Server Room upgrade in live critical infrastructure environment
  • Pipework alterations to baggage hall
  • Re-wiring domestic pier high mast lighting
  • Air-conditioning upgrades

With Pacific Building as Principal Contractor:

  • Major refurbishment and reconfiguration of the main terminal passenger concourse areas
  • Shell and core fit-outs to supporting tenant retail units (including World Duty Free, Starbucks, Dixons and Accessorize)
  • Gate alterations
  • Out of gauge baggage works

“Arthur McKay’s team communicated well throughout and, for every challenge arising, they were quickly able to find a solution. They adhered to the programme to ensure completion dates were met for each phase of the terminal expansion project and their engineers were friendly and approachable throughout.”

Martin Lamont, Site Manager, Pacific Building Ltd
