Following months of stiff competition amongst 480 entrants, representing the length and breadth of the UK, 8 finalists were selected to compete for the coveted NICEC Apprentice of the Year Award.
Congratulations to Michael Costello from Arthur McKay who finished runner-up in this prestigious competition and received a holiday voucher, engraved glass trophy, an iPad and a kit bag containing a variety of electrical accessories. Michael, who joined Arthur McKay in 2013 to embark on our Electrical Apprenticeship training programme, commented: “I am over the moon to have got as far I did. This year’s competition was intense and an amazing experience. It is a lovely way to round off all the hard work over the last few years.”
Throughout Michael’s apprenticeship he was supported by Operations Director, Mike Stark, who commented: “We are very proud of Michael and all that he has achieved. He has been with us now for four years and he has always stood out as someone with a real talent and desire to do well.”
Michael became a qualified electrician with Arthur McKay in January and took up a post in the Estimating Department at the company’s head office in Edinburgh.
Well done Michael and best wishes for the future!
